RATIONALE OF THE SOCOLA VIRTUAL PROFESSIONAL UPDATES AND GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The pandemic has brought about change and challenges to almost everything including the librarianship profession. Despite this however, the SOCSKSARGEN Librarians Association, Inc. in coordination with Regalo-Touching Lives’ online platform, is committed to fulfill its vision and mission thru the conduct of Virtual Professional Updates and General Assembly on October 27, 2021 @ 08:00–12:00PM with the theme: “Virtual Kamustahanay: Issues, Concerns, and Opportunities in Librarianship”.

This event aims to attain the following objectives:

1. To educate librarians on the current PLAI and PRC requirements, processes, programs, and upcoming activities;
2. To address relevant issues and concerns for professional and organizational development;
3. To revive the spirit of partnership and renew professional linkages among librarians in the area, and;
4. To elect new set of officers for the organization.

It will be a half-day event and is divided into two parts: Part I is the Virtual Kamushatanay and Part II will be the General Assembly and Election of Officers. Incorporated is an Open Forum session to address concerns and challenges encountered by SOCOLA members relevant to the profession and the organization. A certificate is also given to members who are in attendance and have registered online.

Election of Officers will be conducted LIVE based on the attendance of the members, an online form will be provided to facilitate the voting process. Results will be announced after the time limit set by the facilitator.
