Did you know? WHO also estimates that about 7.5 per cent Indians suffer from some mental disorder and predicts that by end of this year roughly 20 per cent of India will suffer from mental illnesses. According to the numbers, 56 million Indians suffer from depression and another 38 million Indians suffer from anxiety disorders.
Sounds like a shocking number right?
Chaotic Picasso is our take at spreading awareness about mental health. is a social campaign surrounding topics of mental health and Art. The impact art can have on our well being is not very well known, which is exactly what we want to focus on. The campaign “Chaotic Picasso “ will create awareness about art’s relation and impact on our mental health, via workshops and speaker sessions regarding mental health by notable Alumni from “Teach for INDIA “.
EPISODE 1
ART WORKSHOP
The positive impact art can have on our well being is not very well known and talked about, which is exactly what we want to focus on. The Episode 1 of the event will create awareness about art’s relation on our mental health along with the impact it has on our day to day lives. The Art workshop under our social campaign Chaotic Picasso aims to throw light on art and its connection with mental health. Miss Mehan will walk us through a journey which aims to build more confident children who can thrive beyond their communities and take on the world through creative thinking, imagination & free expression.
A particular art form which is "mixed media" will also be touched upon in the Episode 1 of this event. This form of art features different materials and artistic mediums in one singular piece. It can involve different types of media such as coloured pencil, acrylic, water colour, oil paints, collage, cloth etc.

Manasi Mehan is the co-founder of Saturday Art Class, a not-for-profit social organisation operating in the education sector.
It is school-based intervention working towards empowering children from low-income communities; by taking them through a process of creative exploration and expression as a means to facilitate Social and Emotional Learning integrated with Art. She is a proud Alumna of Teach for India.
