Volunteers are often the first human touchpoint for beneficiaries. How they speak, respond, and show up can either build safety or unintentionally cause harm. Trauma is not limited to clinical settings β€” it exists in homes, workplaces, communities, and everyday interactions. Without a trauma-informed lens, even well-intentioned volunteering can reinforce fear, shame, or disengagement rather than care.

This workshop equips corporate volunteers with practical skills to engage confidently and sensitively with diverse groups, including children, youths, seniors, persons with disabilities, and low-income families. Through real case studies, guided reflection, and simple take-home toolkits, participants learn to:

  • Recognise trauma response
  • Communicate respectfully
  • Hold boundaries while remaining compassionate
  • Apply trauma-informed practices to enhance volunteer impact

Beyond volunteering, these practices strengthen leadership, teamwork, and corporate culture, building empathy, psychological safety, and responsible decision-making.
